General

  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes in both aerospace and commercial industries and the impact of those techniques on coating material properties.

  • Thorough understanding of industry/government specifications and process approval procedures.

  • Capability to review testing practices on coatings and incorporate the format/detail required to control the procedure while maintaining day to day process flexibility

  • Experience in project/program management dealing with all aspects including technical administration needs.

  • Successful track record in multiple litigation cases involving material from fishhooks to welded tanks and medical scissors. Deposition/trial experience. References available upon request.

  • Proven ability to coordinate/conduct training classes on all material processes, especially testing of thermal spray coatings. Conducted classes around the world in areas such as Singapore and Turkey. Classes involve combination of technical, hands-on, and work experience to provide a challenging and learning atmosphere.

Specific Tasks

  • Fifteen (15) years experience in failure analysis of materials ranging from aerospace to commercial applications. Work history in both ferrous/nonferrous alloys systems and varied industries provides expertise to find the cause and recommend corrective action.

  • Extensive background in metallography from optical to Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Involved with major suppliers in review of coating preparation/analysis procedures and coordination of varied Round Robin programs on the Central Coating Lab (CCL). Member of Thermal Spray Society (TSS) Recommended Practices Committee on Metallography.

  • Experience in working with companies and aerospace industry groups charged with the task of replacing hard chrome plating in many commercial/military applications. Responsiblilites included coordination of testing methodology to ensure consistent and reproducible results in techniques such as metallography, fatigue, wear, hardness, etc.

  • Active in working with quality agencies such as the Central Coatings Lab (CCL) and NADCAP to obtain laboratory/personnel approval. This involves both training of personnel and review/revision of coating testing procedures.
